Kundli Milan (Gun Milan)

Kundli Milan, also called Gun Milan or horoscope matching, compares two birth charts before marriage. Astromaan uses the classical Ashtakoota method: eight factors (Varna, Vashya, Tara, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi) scored out of a total of 36 gunas, worked out from the Moon's nakshatra and rashi in each chart.

Traditionally 18 or more out of 36 is considered acceptable, and 24 or more a good match. The score is one input, not a verdict: the page also shows each koota separately, checks the Nadi and Bhakoot doshas that families worry about most, and checks Manglik dosha in both charts, including whether it cancels out.

You need the date, time and place of birth of both people. Nothing is stored unless you sign in and save the profiles.

How many gunas should match for marriage?

Out of 36, 18 is the usual minimum, 18 to 24 is average, 24 to 32 is good and above 32 is excellent. Astrologers also look beyond the score, at doshas and the rest of both charts.

What is Manglik dosha and does it cancel?

Manglik dosha is Mars placed in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the chart. It is generally considered cancelled when both partners are Manglik, or by certain planetary positions. Astromaan checks both charts and shows the result.

What is Nadi dosha?

Nadi is the highest-scoring koota, worth 8 gunas. If both people share the same Nadi it scores zero, which is called Nadi dosha. Some traditions list exceptions, so it is worth discussing with a family astrologer.

Is online kundli matching accurate?

The calculation is exact for the birth details you give. Interpretation varies between traditions, so use the score as a guide and not a final word.
